February 20, 2010 by · 2 Comments

This is a budget Great Room remodel.  The Project entailed demolistion of  cabinets, wall, drop down ceiling, flooring and subfloor, base molding and some sheetrock.

Steps of installation are as follows:  Routing electrical with new can lights and light over island, rerouting gas line for gas cook top,  new sheet rock, paint, distressed hickory hardwood flooring, knotty alder cabinets, 4″ base molding, granite counter tops, new wall ovan, new cook top, new sink, new faucet,  and new light fixtures.

Remodel took five weeks and $13,000 dollars.  Most of the installation was done by the home owner.  The cabinets were bought as a discounted display unite and rearranged to fit the kitchen. Gas cook top was also a discounted desplay unite.

Wardley – Custom Cabinets

Wardley - Kitchen

Mr. Wardley bought this home in Henderson Nevada as a Government repo.  The home had been setting for about two years in an incomplete state.  The Cabinets had been partially installed but had been exposed to the Nevada enviornmental elements for two years and were not in good shape.  After assessing the existing cabinets a decision was made to replace most of them.

I was able to work with Mr. Wardley on a Design and Style that would work with an eclectic look.

The Cabinets were made of a Quarter Sawn Cherry Wood, (Five Piece Door with solid Flat Panel) and Contemporary Bar pulls on the Doors and Drawers.

Commercial buildings need to be updated every 5 to 7 years. The 5300 Commerce Building had a need to up-date in order to keep existing tenants and attract new tenants. In order to attract new tenants, the owner wanted a more up-beat look that would attract state of the art businesses. Money was saved by using the existing floor tile. The owner was able to attract Telesphere as a hi-tech tenant by replacing chair rails, traditional plant-ons, lighting, carpeting, furniture, dated paint colors, and silk plants.

The building’s restrooms had not been up-dated for 15 years. We replaced 1980′s floor tile and 1990′s wall covering with a 13 X 13 tile making the room look larger. We saved monies by repainting the partitions with a automotive paint. We also added hands free sensors to the toilets and new hands free faucets and soap dispensers. New mirrors and lighting added warmth to the rooms.

Jensen, Master Bath Remodel.  I was able to work closely with Esther Jensen on her Custom Cabinetry Design, Manufacturing and Installation. I consulted with her on products and materials.

Esther’s favorite color is Blue.  Esther found her Blue Vessel Sinks on the internet. (Dreamline Tempered Glass Decorative Edge Vessel Bowls)

The shower, tub surround and counter tops are Wilsonart’s (Earth Stone Solid Surface, color: Blue Stone).

Cabinets are made  of a select alder wood with a medium stain and dark glaze.  They have raised panel doors and drawer fronts.
